Curious Horse Taijiquan is based in Perthshire providing Taijiquan and Qigong classes in LuncartyEach class covers both Taijiquan and Qigong, these topics are not separated into different classes.

Corporate and private classes are available by arrangement

Typically a class will commence with some warm-up routines (which include exercises for co-ordination, balance and opening the joints). These will be followed by some Qigong and then Taijiquan form and perhaps partner work.

Qigong involves mostly working with the breath, posture and limited movement. We study several routines including sets from the Daoyin Yangsheng Gong System.

Form is the slowly-performed Taijiquan routine.  Two hand forms are in the syllabus and  one weapons form:

Chen Man-Ching 37 Step Form                Yang Style 108 Long Form

Masich Internal Arts Method 5 Section Solo Sword Form

More details of the full syllabus can be found via the Ongoing Class Development link at the top of this page.

As there is more in the syllabus than can be covered in one class the content will vary from week to week. It may also include some partner work. This is where class members work together in pairs to increase sensitivity and learn in a controlled situation how their own bodies and energies react to external influence. This helps with balance, co-ordination and confidence.

For more experienced practitioners there are separate sessions on Tui Shou (Push Hands) which will lead into looking at applications from the form.

Al is registered as a Senior Instructor with the Tai Chi & Qigong Union for Great Britain.  He is an Indoor Student of Master Sam Masich, creator of the Masich Internal Arts Method.
